Optimal speech intelligibility

The 4071 is an omnidirectional miniature

condenser microphone designed for televi

-

sion broadcast and film applications. Its fre

-

quency response is customized for clarity of

voice in body-worn and hidden applications,

with low-end roll off and presence boost,

making this a better sounding microphone

to use in the field and on the set.

Placing a microphone on a performer's chest

will cause the sound to lose clarity. To achieve

optimal intelligibility in speech applications,

this inconspicuous mic features a

customized frequency response with a

permanent 5 dB soft boost at 4-6 kHz. This

so-called "presence area" is the range where

the human ear is most sensitive and is also

the range of speech intelligibility, clarity and

definition. The low cut feature allows for

greater headroom in the total signal path,

because the cut is done acoustically at the

capsule before pre-amp and wireless trans

-

mitter.

DAD02 Adapter

DAD6024 provides a 3 dB attenuation

around 800 Hz. This will make the voice

become appreciably clearer.
